TROUBLESHOOTING TRAILER SIDE BLIND ZONE ALERT

Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert is an available trailering feature that provides visual side-mirror alerts when a moving vehicle is detected in a side blind zone that is extended to trailer lengths.

Before you get started, make sure you are familiar with the Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert feature. Some things you may notice about the feature are part of normal operation.

TRAILER SIDE BLIND ZONE ALERT ISN’T DETECTING OTHER VEHICLES

If your Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert feature is not detecting other vehicles, there are several possible explanations:

  • The system is designed to detect vehicles and most motorcycles, but not other moving objects. For example, the system is not designed to detect pedestrians, bicyclists or electric scooters.
  • Under bad weather or poor visibility conditions, the system might not function as intended. Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert uses sensors in the rear bumper to detect vehicles in your blind spot. Keep the sensor areas clear of obstructions such as dirt or snow to keep the system working properly.
  • Check your vehicle Owner’s Manual for a diagram that shows the location of the feature’s sensors and how to clean them. This can be found in the “Driver Assistance Systems” section of the Owner’s Manual.
  • Remember, even with Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert, before making a lane change, check your mirrors, glance over your shoulder and use your turn signal. Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert doesn’t operate the brakes or steer the vehicle. It’s an alert system only.

TRAILER SIDE BLIND ZONE ALERT GOES OFF WHEN I PASS A GUARDRAIL

The Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert system is working properly if this happens. This is normal — your vehicle doesn’t need service.
