SOPHISTICATED STRENGTH: INTRODUCING THE 2024 SIERRA HEAVY DUTY AND THE FIRST EVER SIERRA HD DENALI ULTIMATE

The GMC Sierra HD pickup truck has been a trusted partner for drivers who need the power and capability of a heavy-duty truck.

Now, GMC is setting the standard for heavy-duty trucks with the new 2024 Sierra Heavy Duty and the first ever Sierra HD Denali Ultimate, introducing tuned-up power under the hood, an extensive list of enhanced trailering technologies and a refined interior that provides comfort and in-vehicle comfort.

The 2024 Sierra HD lineup includes 2500 and 3500 HD models in Regular, Double and Crew Cab configurations — with dual-rear-wheel models available on 3500 HD models. Available trims include Pro, SLE, SLT, AT4, Denali and Denali Ultimate, with AT4X trim coming later in the model year.

If GMC Sierra heavy-duty trucks are known for one thing it’s their raw power under the hood and towing capabilities.

GMC is building on the already capable 6.6L V8 Duramax Turbo-Diesel, pairing it with a 10-speed Allison transmission delivering 470 hp (at 2800 rpm) and 975 lb.-ft (at 1600 rpm), offering more power across the entire operating speed range. Specifically, low-end torque production increases up to 25 percent compared with the current model, for improved towing performance.

The 2024 Sierra HD will also offer a best-in-class 2500 crew cab max towing capacity of up to 22,070 lbs.* and an available max towing capacity of up to 36,000 lbs.* for a properly equipped 3500 HD regular crew cab with available Duramax 6.6L Turbo-Diesel V8.

Additional changes and upgrades were designed to produce more efficient combustion and enhance overall performance. This latest iteration of the Duramax engines adds additional refinements including:

• An all-new, more efficient turbocharger with improved efficiency to boost low-end torque
• Increased power and torque over the entire operating speed range
• Improved engine braking with a more powerful turbo vane actuator and uprated valve springs
• New cylinder heads with improved cooling jackets
• An all-new combustion system within the heads that are matched with next-generation, higher-flow injectors and greater fuel injection pressure
• All-new engine controller
• Robust improvements to the cylinder head and glow plugs

In addition to the enhancements made to the available 6.6L V8 Duramax Turbo-Diesel, GMC has mated the 10-speed Allison Automatic transmission to the standard 6.6L V8 gas engine, replacing the previous six-speed automatic which offers smaller “steps” between the gears, which enables the 6.6L V8 gas engine to be held closer to its peak power (401 horsepower and 464 lb.-ft. of torque) for longer periods.

This combination translates into a more confident feeling of on-demand power, regardless of whether the truck is towing a trailer or not. Thanks in part to the 10-speed configuration, along with the capability of channeling every single pound-foot of torque to the tires in every gear.

The new 2024 GMC Sierra Heavy Duty offers the most trailering assistance technology in its class*. The Sierra’s available ProGrade^™ Trailering System is comprised of a suite of available intelligent trailering assistant technologies designed to streamline the hitching and towing process with integrated tools that help enhance driver’s sense of confidence when trailering.

For starters, the 2024 Sierra Heavy Duty work truck is equipped with up to 14 available camera views* including an enhanced transparent trailer view*, allowing the driver to virtually “see through” the trailer using mounted cameras on the rear of the truck and trailer piecing together a view of what’s behind the truck as if the trailer were invisible. Drivers can take advantage of this enhanced feature for the 2024 model when pulling large campers or trailers, expanding the existing transparent trailer technology and enabling compatibility with fifth-wheel and gooseneck trailers.

Keep tabs on your surroundings with Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert*. This crucial feature improves awareness while pulling longer trailers. Your side blind zone area of interest will now expand to match the length of the trailer. If an object is detected in your blind zone, a light in the corresponding mirror will illuminate to alert the driver. In addition, the 2024 Sierra Heavy Duty will come standard with a new GCW (Gross Combined Weight) alert, which helps with confident trailering by providing the driver with an indication of whether the vehicle's capabilities have been exceeded.

The Sierra Heavy Duty also enhances the available Cruise Control feature with Adaptive Cruise Control*, which uses the front camera and adjusts cruise control speed when following behind a preceding vehicle using the throttle and brakes at a driver-selected following gap. The Adaptive Cruise Control system will account for additional drag and increased braking distance needed when pulling a trailer, helping to reduce driver fatigue during long trips.

Headlining the 2024 Sierra Heavy Duty lineup, the first ever Sierra HD Denali Ultimate luxury truck is the most advanced luxurious heavy-duty pickup truck in its class*, combining the power of the Sierra HD with premium luxury and style inside and out.

The Sierra HD Denali Ultimate demands respect on the streets with the iconic Denali style and new signature exterior details from grille to gate. The exterior of the truck is appointed with a redesigned Denali signature grille, finished with Vader chrome, Vader chrome GMC badging, unique Denali Ultimate fender badging, new LED projector headlamps and signature animated lighting sequences, power-retractable assist steps with LED perimeter lighting, high-end 20" ultra-bright machined aluminum wheels with high gloss back accents. In addition, the world’s first six-function MultiPro^™ tailgate is equipped with a KICKER^®* audio system.

The craftsmanship of the Alpine Umber interior is unmatched, with several small details including Denali Ultimate badging on the front seatbacks and stainless-steel speaker grilles.
