This engine’s exceptional capability doesn’t come at the cost of efficiency or range. A full tank of fuel for Yukon XL full-size SUV gives you up to an available maximum highway range of 765 miles
GMC incorporated state-of-the-art diesel technologies like a high-pressure fuel injection system and a modern fuel injection control to maximize engine power, range and efficiency. An electronically controlled intake manifold is also used for additional efficiency.
GMC didn’t stop at just technology aimed at fuel delivery. The 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel also has a lightweight all-aluminum engine block, which results in a 25 percent savings in mass over a comparable cast iron engine block. With the Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel and Yukon, you’ll experience great power with a broad torque band, all without a compromise in efficiency.
PROFESSIONAL GRADE DURABILITY
The 2021 Yukon features the high-quality materials and precision craftsmanship drivers expect from a GMC. But this premium full-size SUV also gives owners a truck-like experience with capability and durability.
To start, GMC fortified areas of the 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine where it’s needed most, using components made from forged steel. This diesel engine has even been equipped with an active thermal management system to control the engine coolant, so it operates at an optimum temperature.
GMC’s high standards for engineering excellence also meant taking this engine through millions of test miles not just for the Sierra 1500, but for the Yukon too. The vetting included observing how the Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel engine would perform in extreme driving and adverse weather conditions.
Finally, the Yukon with the available 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine comes with a 5-year/100K-mile warranty.
QUIET REFINEMENT
Diesel engines are often marked by their distinctive rumbling sound; don’t expect it from Yukon’s Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel.
Featuring an inline 6-cylinder architecture, the 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel gives you a quiet and smooth cabin experience. This engine configuration offers the ideal balance of primary and secondary forces so only two camshafts and their associated valvetrain components are operating at one time. This not only eliminates the need for using balancing shafts but minimizes friction.
The quiet performance complements Next Generation Yukon’s impressive features and technologies that accentuate an improved ride experience. The Yukon’s independent rear suspension enables added leg room for rear passengers. There are also available features, such as Magnetic Ride Control and first-in-class four-corner Air Ride Adaptive Suspension.
Delivering cloud-like ride comfort, the Air Ride Adaptive Suspension automatically adjusts the stiffness of the suspension via variable-rate air springs to offer a more comfortable ride regardless of whether the vehicle is lightly or heavily loaded. The system also serves as a complement to Magnetic Ride Control, which reads the road surface and then adjusts the suspension and damper settings in real time to give you an exceptionally smooth ride.
